The Praetor philosophy

Praetor Performance is the resource I wish I’d had when I started weightlifting, 10 years ago, as a self-coached athlete looking to develop my understanding of the Olympic Lifts and strength training.

Since those early days, I’ve been privileged to work with and under some of the best coaches in the UK and beyond, with special interest in Polish Weightlifting and the scant material from the Russian Weightlifting System.

I believe there’s something to learn from everyone, and the combination of this attitude with being a hard-working (but not terribly talented) athlete has made me an excellent coach, driven by the success of my athletes.

I say Praetor is about ‘helping weightlifters get better at getting better’ because training quality is my top priority, and everything I do here is driven by the hope that I can help a less-experienced Olympic Weightlifter save themselves the time, effort, and disappointment I felt from doing things wrong when I was in their shoes!

Praetor is about looking at Weightlifting with the right perspective, being attentive to details, and building a British Weightlifting culture and technical model that we can all share in and profit from.

That’s the culture I want to live in, so I’m starting with myself!
